A Look at the Past - Oral History Interviews

Over the years, the Cambridge Historical Society has conducted oral history video interviews with long time residents of Cambridge and Jeffersonville, VT.  An oral history interview captures a first person perspective of what it was like to live during a particular time and the interviewee's personal experiences and thoughts on events.  It is a wonderful way to preserve a piece of our history.

We will periodically post different interviews here, so please check back.  Enjoy!

Frances Westman - Oral History Interview

Frances Westman was a long time resident of Pleasant Valley and taught high school  languages in Milton, Bakersfield, Essex, Cambridge, and Fairfax for almost 30 years.  In 2007 Roberta Marsh videotaped an interview with Frances about her life and early memories of her childhood in Belvidere, Waterville, and Jeffersonville.  Frances was 94 years old at the time of the interview.  Frances passed away on October 18, 2008, about 18 months after this taping.  Please enjoy viewing this fascinating interview for an interesting look back in time to what life was like in this area in the early 1900’s.
